Andrew Wightman: Trans-Africa
I heard about Julian from one of the UK Landcruiser forums where he was recommended during my search for a second vehicle that was going to do a Trans-Africa with us. An 80 series was found, it was kitted well but needed some work on the engine as it was producing a spectacular smoke-screen down the M1.
The vehicle was taken to Julian, who poked his head in the engine, fiddled around, showed what had been done, and the smoke was a thing of the past.
Based on this I arranged to spend a couple of days with Julian while I prepped my 90 series. The time was very well spent fitting various bits and pieces, and Julian was constantly providing very useful advice for when we are in darkest Africa.
Being able to work alongside him enabled to me to get to know my vehicle intimately, and gave me a lot more confidence to tackle certain jobs while on the road.
I will be visiting Julian just prior to the trip for final check-ups, and fitting the long range tank among other things.
Julian's knowledge of cruisers is second to none, and I thoroughly recommend him.
